Between 1806 and 1812, the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova created three statues of dancers: the first in 1806 (with hands on the belt) commissioned by Josephine, Napoleon's first wife, the second in 1809 (with a finger at the chin) commissioned by the Italian economist Domenico Manzoni and the third in 1812 (with cymbals) commissioned by the Russian ambassador in Vienna Andrei Razumovsky.
The statuette was made by the Italian sculptor Gino Ruggeri for a factory that produces copies of sculptures for the Vatican Museums, the Metropolitan Museum, the Hermitage and other museums around the world.
The material of the statuette is marble powder, the base material is marble. Height 14.6" (37 cm), weight 4.2 lbs (1.9 kg).
