Stibbert Museum

Stibbert Museum

There are many museums in Florence, but even amongst them Stibbert Museum stands apart. The passion for collecting antique items and, above all, weapons captured the young Frederick Stibbert entirely and for the hole life. The exhibits of the museum (there are more than thirty six thousand!), placed in his villa on the hill of Montughi in Florence, amaze the imagination. Especially impressive are the richest collections of arms and armour from Arab and Eastern countries. The visitor of the museum seems to plunge into distant historical epochs, getting into the halls of the villa, where carefully selected and carefully preserved artefacts make an indelible impression on him. And the villa itself, as well as the part where Frederick Stibbert's private chambers are located, is a unique preserved specimen of the historical heritage of that time. His villa and his grand collections  that Frederick Stibbert dedicated his whole life, he bequeathed to the city of Florence. Visit this museum - and you will not regret it!
