Saint Michael the Archangel is one of the most revered archangels in various religions of the world and the leader of the holy army of angels. In sculpture and painting he is most often depicted slaying a dragon (snake).

The statuette was made by the Italian sculptor Enio Furiesi for a factory that produces copies of sculptures for the Vatican Museums, the Metropolitan Museum, the Hermitage and other museums around the world.
