Lake Trasimeno
Lake Trasimeno is a large and picturesque lake in the region of Umbria (Italy). Its area is 128 square kilometers (the fourth largest in Italy), but the maximum depth is only 6.5 meters. An interesting fact is that the water in the lake is naturally renewed every 22 years.
There are three islands on the lake - Polvese, Maggiore and Minore, which can be reached by regular boats and see ancient churches, ruins of castles, enjoy the panorama of the lake and feed pheasants from the hands, which are not afraid of people, since hunting for them has been prohibited for more than 50 years .
On the shores of the lake there are ancient towns (borgos), among which you should visit Castiglione del Lago, wander through the narrow medieval streets, visit Palazzo della Corgna, dine in one of the many local restaurants serving lake fish dishes, and in the evening go to Passignano sul Trasimeno to enjoy fantastic sunsets on the lake, which again can be done from the terraces of restaurants during dinner, since the prices for dishes are very reasonable due to the absence of crowds of tourists in these places.
